Location: CLAYFOLK Studio (Back Patio)
Behind Altamont General Store in Occidental, Ca
Workshops run from 10AM - 3PM
Bring 3-5 ceramic pieces (about coffee mug sized) or 2 larger forms.
Most mid-range groggy clay bodies are welcome (suggested clays include Laguna Speckled Buff, Laguna Moroccan Sand, and ClayPlanet Raku Sculpture)
Some non-grog clay bodies will work if small pieces (B-mix, Frost, or B3)
Your pieces must be bisque fired prior to the workshop.
Skinny wheel thrown or sculptural work is best. Plates and wide bowls are risky.
We will glaze and prep pieces to be loaded into the kiln. We'll be providing a variety of raku glaze options, including crackles, turquoise & copper glazes, and saggar techniques.
Review of fired pots. Learn to refine your glaze application!
We'll run 4-5 raku firings over the course of the day!
*** Please note that raku fired pots are never fully vitrified, making them not food-safe or water tight. We have liquid quartz for sealing pots for an extra cost.
